The Libertas Choir’s exciting performance of Die Vredemakers by Karl Jenkins, for choir, soloist and orchestra, and conducted by Johan de Villiers, is a highlight of this year’s programme. Jenkins, the world’s most celebrated living composer, uses existing texts connected to icons of peace through the ages, such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Anne Frank, Terry Waite, and Saint Francis of Assissi. Visual images of the icons and a compelling text by performer Amanda Strydom contribute to a moving performance that delivers a strong, universal message of peace.
