Music Theater ‘Master Class’ with Judy Page, Kim Kallie and Albert Combrink

The aim of this class is to enrich each student and help them to discover their potential. We nurture them with direction and guidance to refine their talents.

In order to thrive within this industry it is important to cultivate self-esteem and courage. An artist needs to have great confidence in order to deliver a memorable performance and reach an audience. It takes years of practice to achieve the highest level. In this “Master Class” we want to build a strong foundation.

COST: R700.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Each girl will need to be very familiar with the melody and lyrics of:

Colours of the Wind from Pocahontas  and

Somewhere over the Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz

Lyrics to be used as a guide ONLY

(While these are not the girls’ favourite songs, these have been selected for their inherent technical difficulty)

 

  • Each girl must select a song that they would love to sing and that they feel shows off their voice best

 

  • For their chosen song please bring:

-Sheet music /Backtracks on iPods or format on which to play

-Lyrics (2 copies for Kim and Judy)

They will need to be familiar with this song and may use lyrics as a guide only

Physical and vocal warm-up

All girls sing “Colours of the Wind” together

  • Physical Stance\Walking on stage
  • Stage Craft
  • Presentation
  • Image
  • Rudiments
  • Basic interpretation of words
  • Appreciation of the Arts
  • Understanding the goal

Each girl performs their Individual songs putting into practise all that they have gleamed from the beginning of the class

OUTCOMES:

 

  • They will all be critiqued as a group and individually thereby assessing their abilities
  • They will all participate in the notes session, learning from each other
  • Understanding of how to enhance and focus their skills
  • The benefit of working with Judy Page winner of the Naledi Lifetime Achievement Award

COST:

 

After much consideration we have decided to hold this 3 hour ‘Master Class’ at a rate of R700.
