Kromboom Rotary Club and Springfield Convent hosted yet another highly successful “CONCERT IN A CONVENT GARDEN”, raising funds for scholarships for disadvantaged learners, as well as “Habitat for Humanity”. The event was a huge success with a good turnout, great weather and fantastic music.

Celebrating the richness of Music and Voice, Concert in a Convent Garden will take place on 31 January 2016 at 17.30 in the gardens of Springfield Convent in Wynberg. It will take the form of an outdoor picnic concert in the late afternoon where you can enjoy a glass of wine and delicacies from the Opera Café.

UCT Opera School graduate and member of the award-winning South African Sopranos, Lynelle is no stranger to the stage. Pack a picnic, some chairs and blankets and come and enjoy an evening of beautiful music on the green lawns at Groot Constantia Wine Estate. The Symphony Choir of Cape Town, guest soloists and brass quintet will be conducted by Alexander Fokkens.
On Friday, 21 March (Human Rights Day), a special performance of Carl Orff’s very popular Carmina Burana took place at Kirstenbosch, in aid of the national botanical gardens’ exhibition at the Chelsea Flower Show in London. Choirs taking part were: The Symphony Choir of Cape Town, City of Tygerburg Choir and Rondebosch Preparatory School Choir. The CPO was conducted by Alex Fokkens and the soloists were Goitsemang Oniccah Lehobye, Riaan Hunter and Willem Bester.
