We were not about to let a bit of “Loadshedding” dampen our spirits! With a bit of creativity and sheer determination we decorated the venue with candles and stand-lights and put on a very special performance of Opera-themed Flute works.

CT Tango Ensemble was joined by South African Jazz singer Melanie Scholtz for a special evening of Tango and Latin Jazz held at The Crypt Jazz Lounge, one of Cape Town’s most prestigious Jazz venues.

Melanie can be heard on CD with the CT Tango Ensemble on their third CD “Tango Dreams”.

Melanie will be performing next at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival

The Libertas Choir’s exciting performance of Die Vredemakers by Karl Jenkins, for choir, soloist and orchestra, and conducted by Johan de Villiers, is a highlight of this year’s programme. Jenkins, the world’s most celebrated living composer, uses existing texts connected to icons of peace through the ages, such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Anne Frank, Terry Waite, and Saint Francis of Assissi. Visual images of the icons and a compelling text by performer Amanda Strydom contribute to a moving performance that delivers a strong, universal message of peace.
