The Church on Greenmarket Square has become one of Cape Town’s concert ‘hot-spots’ for its special ambiance and excellent acoustics. With well-lit parking on the square outside and coffee on sale inside, as well as a host of restaurants and bars within walking distance, it is a perfect all-round concert venue. Midweek Sessions consists of two contrasting concerts on one night – a classical mix for the first half and acoustic ballads for the second-focusing on some of Cape Town’s finest musicians.

On October 7 Louise Howlett presents Blues in the Night – with two sessions of songs of love and heartache. From 7.30pm there will be an hour of some of the best opera arias from Bizet, Mozart, Verdi and more. From 8.45pm there will a session of the best Broadway and ballads from Lloyd Webber and Sondheim to Bob Dylan and Billy Holiday.

Bass Baritone Bongani Kubheka- (finalist in Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition) will bid farewell to South Africa with this concert as he heads overseas to continue his singing career. He will be joined by baritone Martin Mkhize and tenor Ifriky Tadadjeu- plus guest appearances from Goitsemang Lehobye, Leah Gunter and Zion Zuke. They will be accompanied by Albert Combrink and soprano Louise Howlett and the two sessions will show the full versatility of this wonderful group of musicians.
