This is the 10th time that Opera in a Convent Garden celebrates the richness of Music and Voice in the beautiful hydrangea filled gardens of Springfield Convent on SUNDAY THE 3rd OF FEBRUARY at 17h30.
Renowned South African musicians, Peter and Suzanne Martens, together with members of the Stellenbosch University Camerata, will form the musical framework surrounding the voices of four of Cape Town’s finest young singers. This year we have the pleasure of presenting Hlengiwe Mkhwanazi, Louise Howlett, Thembinkosi Mgetyengana and Owen Metsileng under the musical direction of Albert Combrink.
Well known TV personality, Michael Mol, will weave together a shimmering tapestry of memorable arias and songs from Opera and Broadway.
Springfield Convent School, the Past Pupils’ Union and the Rotary Club of Kromboom invite you to come early to relax on your picnic blankets and chairs (gates open at 15.30) and be entertained by the Springfield Marimba Band, a piper and magicians.
There will be a Childrens’ Corner to keep little minds occupied and entertained.
The Opera Café will offer delicious fare, including wine. This year there are Pre-ordered picnics (@R120) at 082 781 1708 that can be picked up at the Opera Café. Closing date
for these 28th January.
Secure parking is available and Springfield girls will lend a hand to carry picnic paraphernalia to the lawns.
All profit from this popular Cape Town cultural and family event goes to three projects – Habitat for Humanity (an annual Grade 8 ‘build’), PPU School Bursaries and the Kromboom project “Where Rainbows Meet”.
Tickets at R100 Adults, R20 Scholars with under 10’s being free, are obtainable from
