Public and press response to El Beso were overwhelmingly positive:
” Whether you are an aficionado of tango, or simply enjoy expressive dancing and passionate music, this celebration of Argentinean culture will leave many a pleasant memory of an evening well spent. The show’s title (meaning “The Kiss”) is aptly chosen, since romance is its whole raison d’etre.
…..and best of all, the intense tenderness generated by the lead partnership in their two bravura pieces, Million Tango and Libertango.” – Beverly Brommert, Cape Argus
“Die dansers beweeg op na en af van die verhoog in n natuurlike luim, en die bekendstelling van elke nommer gebeur rustig. Die choreografie van Mareli Schroter gryp die kern van die tango aan.” – Eduard Greyling, Die Burger
Translation In English: “The dancers move on and off the stage in a natural mood, and the introduction of each number happens calmly. The choreography of Mareli Schroter goes to the heart of tango.” – Eduard Greyling, Die Burger
” ‘El Beso’ spog met Suid Afrika se vuurwarmste jong tango-paar Nur Dreyer en Cherona Reisenhofer – ondersteun deur n eksklusief Suid-Afrikaanse group dansers.” –Die Kaapse Son
